Difference Between Sensitive and Sensitized

How's everything going with you? Some of my people started getting the COVID vaccine. Mine is still unknown (still not eligible), but I feel a bit light in 2021.

Today, I want to talk about the difference between sensitive and sensitized.

Skin sensitivity is characterized by itchiness, inflammations, redness, and unexpected reactions. The reason for sensitive skin may be different from person to person can be genetic factors, environmental stress, wrong use of skincare products, etc. However, there is a difference between sensitive skin and sensitized skin.

Sensitive skin: more of a built-in cause. It is characterized by skin redness, irritation, and regular inflammations. You never know what will react with sensitive skin. It can be cosmetics, or it can be any other number of environmental changes. Factors such as stress, fatigue, drugs, alcohol, sun exposure, and pollution can further aggravate sensitive skin conditions. Other influencing factors are hormone alterations and the natural aging process.

Sensitized skin: environmental conditions can cause people with healthy skin to suddenly find themselves having sensitive skin because of both internal and external factors. One possible reason is if you have not treated your skin correctly or wrong, use your skincare products.

Some Tips!

  • Avoid too much exfoliating your skin. Also, avoid harsh scrubs and cleansers and heavily perfumed skincare products.

  • Avoid unprotected and prolonged sun exposure and harsh environmental changes.

  • Avoid products that contain harsh chemicals and fragrances.

  • Always wear sunscreen.

  • Always keep your skin well moisturized.
